"Zene" was created during an three-week individual project, where I reimagined contemporary speaker design and brought concepts to life through augmented reality.
The Vision
The Senses
Blending music with the calming scents of aromatherapy, Zene creates a multi-sensory experience that engages both the auditory and olfactory senses, nurturing a deep sense of inner peace and well-being.
Customisable Aromatherapy Experience
Fine-tune the colour, speed, and duration of the diffuser to craft the perfect atmosphere for relaxation or revitalisation, effortlessly transforming your space into a serene, personal oasis.

Household Access
With multiple user profiles, Zene allows every household member to connect their own Spotify account and enjoy a personalised music journey, tailored to their individual preferences.
Sleek and Stylish Design
Thoughtfully designed to complement any interior, Zene blends seamlessly into your decor, adding a modern, elegant touch while elevating both your audio and visual experience.
Inspiration
AI Image Generator
MidJourney provided early inspiration for form exploration, helping spark the project’s aesthetic direction. However, it lacked the detail and clarity needed to integrate the diffuser and speaker effectively. Recognising these limitations, I shifted toward hands-on research and prototyping to develop the final design.

AI generated Images using MidJourney

Early Exploration
I explored a range of inspiration images to build a foundation for the design, carefully considering how form, function, colour, materials, and finish could come together. Identifying directions that could best support the overall vision
Ideation
The focus was on creating a sleek and stylish smart speaker that offers household Spotify® screen access alongside a customisable Rituals® aromatherapy experience.
CAD Development
While proficient in robust programs like SolidWorks, development was explored using Shapr3D — a mobile CAD software that allowed greater freedom and flexibility, enabling design creation directly on the iPad.
Augmented Reality (AR)
KeyShot was used to render the CAD model with applied textures and materials. The model was exported as a GLB file, converted to USDZ using Reality Converter, and imported into Reality Composer to manipulate the speaker in augmented reality and create animations.
Screen Display designed using Adobe Illustrator.
